The ability to blog effectively is greatly aided where the blogger has adequate access to effective Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). PDAs can take many forms but today a PDA is typically a handheld computer that is used for data entry and for carrying out communication. A PDA normally does not have a keyboard but is made with hardware that enables the keying-in of data by use of a pen. Where visitors to the blog are allowed to leave comments and suggestions, it is important that the blog administrator is able to access those comments and suggestions in order to respond in good time.

Such companies need to respond as quickly as possible to client suggestions. Where clients are suggesting improvements in certain products or services, it is important that they either see the improvements or at least be made to know that their concerns are being addressed.

Some of the PDAs that are used by business people today also include telephones such as the BlackBerry which has a keyboard and allows for easy data input. The ability to use mobile phones and other PDAs to update a blogs is important in saving time and allowing for real time communication. Some of the blog software in the market today has also been developed with the use of PDAs in mind so that the blogger is able to post or carry out other functions on the blog by use of the PDAs.

In addition to data posting, PDAs perform the additional function of providing crucial data anytime. This is important in blogging as a crucial part of successful blogging is the ability to act on information with speed.

PDAs are also critical in blogging because they enable data synchronization. Data that is stored in a host computer is used to update data held in the PDA. This ensures that data held in PDAs is both accurate and current. Data held in this way also provides a good back up should anything happen to the original data. Since the data includes lists of email, telephone and other contacts of people important to the blogger, the importance of data synchronization cannot be overemphasized.
